Another child has committed suicide after being sexually assaulted and humiliated. How many more lives must be lost before we as a society decide to take a stand and say, ENOUGH! Please don’t wait any longer. Join us, join another group that works to end childhood sexual abuse. But for God’s sake, join something and take action! Don’t wait until it happens to your child or a child you know before that occurs. Step up to the plate now. Let’s work together and save the lives of our children!

In 2006 David took the first step in a long and painful journey back from the abyss of addiction and self-destruction. He promised his dying father that he would get clean. And he did. But as he cleaned his body and soul, he began to confront the sexual abuse that his addiction had for so long obscured — abuse perpetrated by a church youth minister when David was 12 to 15 years old. Those three years of abuse destroyed the foundation of love and faith that had been built by his family. For 25 years, David kept the abuse secret and lost himself in a fog of drugs and alcohol. He was by turns destitute, at times incarcerated. The promise to his dying father was the catalyst. And the bedrock of his mother’s love and devotion was the foundation on which David rebuilt his life. Therapy, 12-step meetings, and soul-deep determination were the bricks and mortar. David founded Together We Heal to provide fellow survivors and their families, guidance through the trauma of childhood sexual abuse. In 2015 he was asked to become a part of the Child Safeguarding Initiative team with GRACE (Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment) to empower the Christian community through education and training to recognize, prevent, and respond to child abuse. David represents Together We Heal & GRACE across the country as a public speaker and instructor; teaching churches, schools, and families how to talk with their kids about sexual abuse, how to better identify predatory behavior, and how to properly respond to those harmed. 1. Reblogged this on NO MORE SHAME and commented:
this is so sad, and unfortunately happens far more than we are made aware of. This also says far more about the society we all live in, that this sort of behaviour is common today. My heart goes out to this beautiful young girls family and friends.

  2. It’s sickening, really. And I have to wonder how it ever got this bad.

  3. I shared this on Twitter yesterday and again today. I thanked people for retweeting your article from my sharing it on Twitter at least 10 times throughout the day and evening yesterday. The word is getting out to be vocal and to stop child abuse and to stop bullying. Thank you writing this article. We are making a difference.

  4. Year after year, mounting statistics of people commit suicide. Due to the recent death of comedian Robin Williams, there is undoubtedly a MUST for support. Honestly, life IS hard and cruel and selfish. But, that is why we always need “someone to lean on”. With love and understanding, we can teach others to face life, NOT with despair, but with hope and resilience.
People slip and fall at times, but they need, if you will, a hand to pull them up. They need to remember that “tomorrow will always come”.

    Happy day 🙂
